Temple Baptist Church began in June of 1971. And for over forty years now, we have experienced the miraculous blessings of God. The Lord has provided at every turn – even in the face of many impossible situations.
Our desire is to see folks come to Christ, grow in their relationship with Christ, and learn to use their talents for Christ. We understand that the happiest believers are those who have found their God-given interests and talents, and are using those for His glory.
At Temple Baptist Church, we offer many different areas of service for that very purpose. We want everyone who calls Temple “home” to be involved in one way or another.
Temple Baptist Church is an independent church. Simply meaning, we are autonomous in all the decisions concerning this local body of believers. We look to no one but the Lord God for the direction He would have us go. We do this through the study of His Word, the Bible, and through the leadership of His Holy Spirit.

God has blessed us with the very best of facilities. From our baby nursery to our senior adult meeting room, there is something here for every age. We have vibrant children and teens ministries, as well as many avenues for adults of all ages to be involved.
Approximately twice per year, we offer what we call “A Taste of Temple.” This is a three session class that is designed to answer all the questions you may have about our church. The class covers everything from the very practical (a tour of the facilities), to the very essential (our doctrinal beliefs). We offer the class to anyone who would like to know more about Temple Baptist Church. We do not put any expectation or pressure for membership on anyone who attends the class. Our desire is to help individuals and families find the church where God wants them. Our hope is that Temple will be your church home, but we understand that is not always the case.
Keeping with the theme of “A Taste of Temple,” we also offer “Lunch with the Pastor.” Our Pastor, J.D. Surbaugh and his wife, Barbara, enjoy taking prospective church members to lunch following a Sunday morning service. It is an informal time to get to know our Pastor better, and learn more about the ministries here and his vision for Temple.
