Homecoming 2012 with the Bledsoes

On June 3, 2012, Temple Baptist Church will be celebrating its 41st Homecoming. This year, we are welcoming the Bledsoes from Dobson, North Carolina.

Spanning more than 30 years of heartfelt, sincere ministry, The Bledsoes have consistently tried to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ in a professional, passionate way. Their main goal is to see the Lord ‘high and lifted up’ (Isaiah 6). It is their firm belief if God is lifted up, He ‘will draw all men’ to Himself as He promised in His Word.

The Bledsoes have seen many lost souls come to know our Lord as their personal Savior. They will be quick to let you know, it’s not by their efforts, but the drawing power of the Holy Spirit. The Bledsoes’ ministry has expanded within the last few years with the signing of their recording contract with Crossroads Music, on the Pinnacle Label.

For Homecoming, the Bledsoes will be doing a concert during our 10:00 hour, and providing all of the special music at 11:00. There is no charge for admission. However, a love offering will be taken. If you would like to check them out, their website is www.thebledsoes.com.

“Days of Glory” Easter Musical

Easter is on Sunday, April 8^th, this year, and we are preparing a very special program for that day! The Temple Baptist Church Choir will combine with the King’s Players, from Liberty University, to present a powerful Easter Pageant entitled, Days of Glory!

Days of Glory is a program that uses music and drama to tell the story of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection in a very poignant way. Our choir will be providing the music, while the King’s Players will provide the drama. This promises to be one of the most powerful presentations we have ever done here at Temple, and you will not want to miss it. Whether you are a member of Temple or not, it does not matter. All are welcomed to attend. There is no admission charge, and we would love to have you!

This pageant will take place on Easter Sunday morning at 9:30. Please don’t miss it!

When Jesus healed a physically deformed lady on the sabbath, the ruler of the synagogue became upset. Jesus shamed the ruler by pointing out that he had more compassion on his animals than on this child of promise who had been afflicted for eighteen years.

At the end of his sermon, Pastor J.D. Surbaugh has one of Temple Baptist Church’s most special ladies sing the wonderful hymn, “How Great Thou Art.”

This is a day for mercy.

Esther – The Queen Who Dared to Refuse

In the book of Esther, God’s face is hidden. God’s name is not mentioned; no divine title or pronoun refers to Him. There is no mention of prayer nor dependence upon God.

Esther is never quoted in the New Testament, nor is there even a casual reference to it. However the Jews give it a peculiar emphasis. Esther teaches the providence of God. “Providence” comes from the same stem as “provide”, and it simply means that God will provide. Theologically, providence is the direction God gives to everything, good and evil. Practically, providence is the hand of God in the glove of history – and that glove will never move until He moves it.

Providence means that God is behind the scenes, shifting and directing them. As recorded in the book of Esther, the entire Jewish nation would have been slain had it not been for the providence of God.

God stands in the shadows, keeping watch over His own!
